Emobi’s electric two-wheeler AKX to use Musashi’s e-Axle technology
Emobi, a Bengaluru-based electric vehicle (EV) start-up, announced that its new electric two-wheeler model, AKX, will use the e-Axle EV drive unit from Japan-based mobility technology manufacturer Musashi Seimitsu Industry.
AKX is the second Emobi model to incorporate Musashi’s e-Axle technology after Kyari, which was launched in November 2025. The companies said the collaboration is aimed at supporting electric mobility solutions for India’s two-wheeler and last-mile mobility segments.
Naoya Nishimura, Chief Executive Officer, Musashi India & Africa Region, said “At Musashi, we are focused on developing next-generation mobility technologies that address the evolving needs of electric transportation. We are pleased to strengthen our collaboration with Emobi through the AKX, which is the second model to integrate our e-Axle technology. India’s EV ecosystem presents significant opportunities, and we believe our e-Axle solution can help enable performance, efficiency and a smoother riding experience tailored to the requirements of Indian consumers.”
Bharath Rao, CEO and Co-Founder of Emobi, said “AKX has been designed with the needs of India’s electric mobility market in mind. The integration of Musashi’s e-Axle technology enhances the vehicle’s acceleration, torque and overall riding experience, while staying focused on efficiency and reliability. This collaboration reflects our commitment toward building EV solutions that are practical, high-performing and ready for real-world Indian conditions.”
According to the company, Musashi’s e-Axle for electric two-wheelers is designed to support acceleration, torque delivery and riding performance in urban conditions. The system incorporates a reduction gear mechanism developed using the company’s experience in two-wheeler transmission systems for electric mobility applications. The company stated that the e-Axle is designed to deliver low-noise operation and efficiency while offering acceleration and torque comparable to internal combustion engine two-wheelers.
India remains one of the world’s largest two-wheeler markets, with EV adoption increasing across urban transportation and last-mile delivery applications. Through its product portfolio, Emobi said it is focusing on electric vehicles designed for Indian riding and commercial use cases.
