India ICE vs EV sales | For top 2W, 3W, 4W OEMs in April 2025
In April 2025, the overall penetration of EVs in the 2W market was 5.5%. For passenger 3W L5 autos, it was 30.9%, and for cargo 3W L5 autos, it was 23.4% and for 4W, it was 3.5%. This article aims to showcase where EV sales stand compared to the overall vehicle sales in the 2W, 3W, and 4W categories.

OEM wise Leading 2W Sales for ICE and EV, April 2025

In April 2025, the two-wheeler market saw a mix of ICE and EV sales, with Hero MotoCorp leading overall sales (5,11,761 units) but only 1.2% from EVs. TVS Motor (6.4%) and Bajaj Auto (10.4%) showed significant EV adoption, while Suzuki, Royal Enfield, and Yamaha remained fully ICE-dependent. Pure EV players Ola (19,709), Ather (13,173), and Ampere/Greaves (4,018) had 100% EV sales.
Overall EV penetration in the 2W segment in April 2025 was 5.5%, down from 8.7% in Mar 2025.

In April 2025, Bajaj Auto led the three-wheeler passenger market with 28,114 units, of which 18.3% were EVs. Mahindra Last Mile Mobility (94.8%), Piaggio (24.6%), TVS Motor (38.5%), Atul Auto (7.4%), MLR Auto (6.2%) showed significant EV adoption. Meanwhile, TI Clean Mobility and Omega Seiki recorded 100% EV sales, highlighting their commitment to electric mobility.

In April 2025, Bajaj Auto led the three-wheeler cargo market with 4,524 units, of which 8.4% were EVs. Mahindra Last Mile Mobility had the highest EV share at 59%, while Piaggio (6.2%), Atul Auto (4.9%), MLR Auto (1.5%), and Baxy (4.5%) showed minimal EV penetration. Meanwhile, Euler Motors and Omega Seiki recorded 100% EV sales, reinforcing their focus on electric mobility.
Overall EV penetration in the 3W goods (L5) segment in Apr 2025 was 23.4%, down from 24.6% in Mar 2025.

In April 2025, 4W Sales were led by Maruti Suzuki with 1,38,059 units, but had no EV presence. Tata Motors (10.1%) and Mahindra & Mahindra (6.2%) showed notable EV adoption, while MG Motor India had the highest EV share at 71%. Hyundai (1.6%) and Kia (0.1%) had limited EV sales, whereas Toyota, Skoda, Honda, and Renault remained ICE-only. The data highlights Tata, Mahindra, and MG as key players driving EV penetration in the segment.
Overall EV penetration in the 4W segment in April 2025 was 3.5%, slightly down from 3.6% in Mar 2025.
