Servotech and Lloyd Institute sign MoU to set up EV R&D lab and charging station

Servotech Power Systems Ltd., an EV charger manufacturer in India, recently entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Lloyd Institute of Engineering and Technology. The collaboration aims to advance research, education, training, FDPs, and innovation in the field of Electric Vehicle (EV) technology and charging infrastructure. The partnership involves the establishment of a dedicated Research and Development (R&D) lab and a Center of Excellence at Lloyd’s campus.

The R&D center will focus on promoting innovation, creating awareness, and enhancing skills in EV technology and charging. As per the official statement, Servotech offers internships and job opportunities to center of excellence trainees, providing practical experience and industry exposure. Additionally, Servotech plans to install a charging station with a 14 kW EV Charger on Lloyd’s premises, catering to 2, 3, and 4-wheelers. This charging station will be accessible to students and faculty, providing free charging services. Moreover, it will be open to the general public and students from nearby institutes, fostering a collaborative and inclusive approach to accelerate the widespread adoption of EVs.

Manohar Thairani, President, Lloyd Institute of Engineering and Technology commented “This MoU represents Industry-Academia collaboration to skill the fresh talent in the area of EV. LIET focuses on skill-based education and has established centres in emerging areas such as EV, Li-ion Batteries, and Drone technology. This collaboration with Servotech Power Systems will give real exposure and develop an understanding of the students of the Institute and the nearby region in the EV sector. Additionally, the centre will act as a hub to cater to the multiple needs of e-mobility along with extending the trained manpower required for Aviation and other Industries. Overall, this step will bring our country closer to its dream of being an EV-powered and mission Viksit Bharat”.
