Kia launches K-Charge with 1000+ EV charging stations in India

Kia India has introduced the K-Charge initiative, a feature within the ‘MyKia’ app, allowing users to discover over 1000 EV charging stations across the country. This initiative is extending access to the charging network to non-Kia customers. Kia has partnered with five charging point operators (CPOs) – Statiq, ChargeZone, Relux Electric, Lion Charge, and E-Fill – to facilitate this initiative. A special arrangement with Relux Electric offers Kia customers three months of complimentary charging through their stations. The integration of these CPOs into the ‘MyKia’ app is facilitated by Numocity Technologies, known for its CMS services.

The enhanced features provide added convenience to EV users, allowing them to access a range of services through the app. Users can locate charging stations on the interactive map provided by Map My India, check slot availability, choose based on preferences, and make payments through the integrated wallet service. The range of user-friendly features simplifies EV charging and reduces the reliance on multiple external applications.

Mr. Hardeep Singh Brar, National Head of Sales and Marketing – Kia India, said, “K-Charge is not just a convenience initiative for our customers but a step towards making sustainable mobility convenient and accessible for everyone. We strongly believe that the technology transition towards a complete EV future ought to be smooth, and the K-Charge, integrated into the ‘MyKia’ app, is a well-thought-out step in that direction. With this aim, we will continue our efforts towards expanding the charging network through the onboarding of new CPOs in the future. We are confident that seamless, user-friendly solutions like these will play a pivotal role in accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles in India.”

Kia’s ‘EV for All’ vision aims to achieve an annual sales target of one million EVs by 2026, with further expansion to 1.6 million units annually by 2030. This growth plan is supported by the launch of various long-range Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs). In the Indian market, Kia has outlined its EV strategy, including the introduction of global EV models and locally manufactured EVs in the RV body style by 2030.
