India ICE vs EV sales | For top 2W, 3W, 4W OEMs in January 2025

In January 2025, the overall penetration of EVs in the 2W market was 6.4%. For passenger 3W L5 autos, it was 25.6%, and for cargo 3W L5 autos, it was 20.7%. This article aims to showcase where EV sales stand compared to the overall vehicle sales in the 2W, 3W and 4W categories.

In January 2025, Hero MotoCorp led two-wheeler sales with 4,10,774 units, including 1,615 EVs (0.4% EV share), followed by Honda Motorcycle at 3,72,982 units with no EV sales. TVS Motor and Bajaj Auto showed significant EV adoption, selling 23,809 (8.3% share) and 21,310 (12.3% share) EVs, respectively. Suzuki Motorcycle, Royal Enfield, and India Yamaha Motor reported no EV sales despite strong ICE numbers. Among pure EV players, Ola Electric led with 24,336 units, followed by Ather Energy at 12,906 units and Ampere/Greaves at 3,636 units, all achieving a 100% EV share.

In January 2025, Bajaj Auto led sales in the 3W L5 Passenger segment with 33,988 units, including 4,878 EVs (14.4% EV share). Mahindra Last Mile Mobility followed with 5,341 units, achieving an impressive 93.6% EV share. Piaggio Vehicles sold 5,281 units, of which 1,430 were EVs (27.1% share), while TVS Motor recorded 133 EV sales out of 2,670 units (5% share). TI Clean Mobility and Omega Seiki reported 100% EV sales with 560 and 240 units, respectively. MLR Auto sold 497 units with an 8% EV share, and Baxy recorded 18 EV sales from a total of 207 units (9% share).

In January 2025, Bajaj Auto led sales in the 3W L5 Goods segment with 5,500 units, including 480 EVs (8.7% share), followed by Piaggio Vehicles at 2,623 units with 157 EVs (6% share). Mahindra Last Mile Mobility recorded 883 units, with 51.6% EV share from 456 EVs. Omega Seiki and Euler Motors achieved 100% EV sales with 368 and 273 units, respectively. MLR Auto and Baxy had minimal EV penetration at 3% (5 EVs) and 1.4% (2 EVs), respectively, while 3EV Industries exclusively sold 130 EVs.

In January 2025, Tata Motors led the EV 4W Sales market with 5,044 electric vehicle sales, making up 9.4% of its total sales. MG Motor had the highest EV share at 66.4%, with 4,234 EVs out of 6,379 total sales. Mahindra & Mahindra and Hyundai Motor recorded EV shares of 1.3% and 0.5%, respectively, while Kia India’s EV percentage stood at 0.2%. Major players like Maruti Suzuki, Toyota Kirloskar, Skoda Auto, Honda Cars, and Renault India did not report EV sales.
