Tata Technologies and BMW Group to collaborate on automotive software and IT solutions
On April 2nd, 2024, the BMW Group and Tata Technologies, a global product engineering and digital services company, announced the signing of a Joint Venture (JV) aimed at creating an automotive software and IT development hub in Pune, Bengaluru, and Chennai, India. The execution of the JV agreement is subject to review and approval by the relevant authorities. The primary development and operations activities will be centered in Bengaluru and Pune, with Chennai focusing on business IT solutions.
The JV plans to utilize Tata Technologies’ digital engineering expertise and talent pool in India to assist the BMW Group in expanding its software coding capabilities across global IT hubs and enabling 24/7 operations. As per the company statement, it will focus on strategic software development, particularly for BMW Group’s premium vehicles, emphasizing solutions for software-defined vehicles (SDV) such as automated driving, infotainment, and digital services in automotive software. Additionally, it will emphasize digitalization and automation of product development, production, and sales processes in business IT. Initially, 100 trained Tata Technologies professionals will contribute to software projects, with the potential for substantial growth in the future.
