Total Registered Electric Vehicle Sales – Aug’26 – 2,98,048 I Jul’26 – 3,32,274

Electric vehicle sales in India declined across most categories in August 2026. E2W sales fell to 1,83,077 units from 2,05,640 in July, while e-rickshaw sales declined to 28,811 from 34,718. E3W L5 Passenger sales fell to 40,419 from 41,375, and E-cart sales dropped to 6,029 from 7,282. E3W L5 Cargo sales declined to 4,583 from 4,944, while E4W sales fell to 30,424 from 34,512. However, E-bus sales increased to 908 units from 575, and E-Goods Carrier sales rose to 3,773 from 3,057.

India recorded 30,71,709 EV sales from Sep 2025 to Aug 2026, per Vahan Dashboard data (excluding low-speed e-2Ws). Monthly sales peaked in July 2026 (3,32,274) and were lowest in September 2025 (1,91,527).

The penetration percentage of electric vehicles (EVs) in the two-wheeler (2W) category decreased from 11.2% in July 2026 to 10.7% in Aug 2026.

OEM wise E-Goods Carrier Sales, Aug 2026

Tata Motors is the clear leader with over 37% market share in e-goods carrier sales in Aug 2026, followed by Euler Motors and Sany Heavy Industry India.
