MO Batteries commences trials for electric motorbikes with swappable batteries in Singapore

Singapore – MO Batteries Pte Ltd has commenced on-road trials of its electric motorbike charging technology. MO is the first company to operate electric motorbikes with swappable batteries on the road in Singapore.

The trials are part of the regulatory sandbox granted to MO by the Land Transport Authority, Singapore, as announced in September 2022. The trials commence with Singapore Post and Progsegur. During the trial, the vehicles will be assessed for their charging convenience, ease of use, maintainability, and energy efficiency. MO will provide the electric motorbikes and all charging services throughout the trial.

MO will work closely with the LTA to ensure the trials are conducted safely and provide a pathway to commercial availability for electric motorbikes with swappable batteries in Singapore. The trials will be extended over the coming months to include Grab, Sentosa Development Corporation and Certis CISCO.

“As Singapore’s leading last-mile delivery service provider, we are dedicated to doing better for the planet and delivering a greener Singapore for everyone. This is driven by our commitment to have a fully electric fleet by 2026 and lead green efforts in the logistics industry. We are pleased to be collaborating with MO as the first mover on swappable battery electric two-wheelers in Singapore,” said Neo Su Yin, CEO Singapore, SingPost.

Commenting on the commencement of the trials, MO’s Co-Founder, Tom Streitberg, said, “We are thrilled to be able to showcase our solution with SingPost. A successful trial with the largest motorbike fleet operator in Singapore will be a strong endorsement of our approach and provide a powerful demonstration of the ease and benefits of going electric.”
