Bajaj Urbanite Chetak Electric Revealed
Bajaj Motors revealed their first electric vehicle under Urbanite Brand on Oct 16, 2019. The electric scooter is called Chetak, a nostalgic call back to the most beloved scooter of the country.
The reveal was made in the presence of Mr Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highways of India, who also flagged off a Chetak Yatra, from Delhi to Pune, at the event.
The company has not revealed the specifications or the pricing of the e-scooter yet. However, it was confirmed that Chetak Electric will go on sale starting January 2020, and will debut in Pune. Bajaj will launch the scooter in the rest of the country in a phase-wise manner.

The electric scooter is available in Red, Blue, Black and Silver colours. Chetak electric comes with an on-board digital touch-screen display, geo-location, connectivity, and anti-theft features. It will offer two ride modes, eco and sport, with a driving range of 95km and 85 km respectively. The battery pack is Lithium-ion, made of NCA cells and comes encased in an IP67 rated enclosure. The scooter will be sold from Bajaj’s Pro-biking dealerships and is expected to be priced near 1 lakh INR.
Chetak electric is being seen as competition to Ather 450. We will publish a specification comparison of the two once the details of Chetak are revealed.
