Atul Auto and Exponent Energy partner to deploy 15-minute charging passenger e-3Ws

Atul Auto and Exponent Energy have announced a partnership to develop and deploy 15-minute rapid charging electric three-wheelers. The companies plan to deploy a minimum of 15,000 Exponent-powered passenger three-wheelers over a period of three years.

Under the collaboration, Atul Auto’s vehicles will be integrated with Exponent Energy’s OTO three-wheeler mobility platform, which combines battery systems, powertrain components, and vehicle software. The platform, previously used in retrofit deployments, will now be extended to OEM-integrated new vehicles. In addition to Exponent’s rapid charging network, the platform is compatible with public and home charging infrastructure.

Exponent Energy’s technology enables a full charge in 15 minutes for commercial vehicles and includes a warranty of up to 2 lakh km. The offering is intended to support vehicle uptime, operational efficiency, and total cost of ownership for commercial users. The companies stated that the partnership is aimed at supporting the adoption of electric mobility in the commercial three-wheeler segment.

Exponent Energy has also introduced Exponent One, an EV financing platform led by Sandeep Divakaran, which will support financing for these vehicles. The platform includes insurance and buyback options.

Arun Vinayak, CEO and Founder of Exponent Energy, stated that “With Atul Auto, we are bringing rapid charging, financing access, and proven vehicle platform technology together at scale. Our mission is to make electric the better choice, which means addressing the real barriers to adoption. Atul Auto’s strong manufacturing legacy and deep understanding of the threewheeler market make them a natural partner as we scale our mobility platform into OEM-integrated vehicles and enable adoption at a much larger scale.”

Neeraj Chandra, Managing Director of Atul Auto, stated that “Atul Auto has built a strong legacy of delivering reliable and high-quality three-wheelers to customers across India. This partnership with Exponent Energy allows us to bring cutting-edge rapid charging technology to our portfolio, enabling a significantly enhanced value proposition for our customers while accelerating our transition towards electric mobility.”

Atul Auto manufactures three-wheelers, operates across 25 states with 300+ sales and service networks, and exports to over 20 countries. It reported a turnover of ₹600+ crore in FY 2024–25. Bengaluru-based Exponent Energy, founded in 2020, develops charging solutions for commercial EVs, enabling full charging in 15 minutes with a 3,000-cycle life. The company has raised $44.6 million from investors including Lightspeed, TDK Ventures, Eight Roads Ventures, YourNest VC, 3one4 Capital, AdvantEdge VC, and the family office of Dr. Pawan Munjal, Chairman & CEO of Hero MotoCorp.
