Hyderabad based Blackbuck EV unveils 9m electric bus platform VIRO 2X

Hyderabad-based Blackbuck EV unveils VIRO 2X, a 9-meter battery electric bus designed for corporate transport and premium shuttle services. Commercial deployment is expected from Q4 2026, according to a company statement.

Blackbuck reports energy consumption of up to 0.6 kWh per km with a range of up to 260 km at 80% state of charge. The VIRO 2X platform supports multiple configurations, including a 34-seat layout and a 30-seat fully reclining version. This new platform marks the company’s expansion into the urban segment, following the ELON 3X long-distance platform, which is currently progressing toward production.

VIRO 2X is built on a proprietary EV-native architecture combining an aero-grade aluminium and composite spaceframe with a high-strength stainless steel skateboard platform. This approach reduces overall vehicle weight compared with conventional buses in the segment, while maintaining structural strength and durability. The platform has been developed in-house, integrating structure, electrical systems, and software within a unified architecture.

“With VIRO 2X, we are focused on how efficiently mobility can operate in real-world conditions,” said R K Raju, Founder & CEO of Blackbuck EV.

Blackbuck is positioning VIRO 2X as a solution focused on lifecycle efficiency and operational reliability. VIRO 2X is engineered and manufactured in India with strong localisation, supported by global suppliers.
