Top Indian OEMs – 2W Sales | ICE vs EV, Sep 2026

In September 2026, India’s two-wheeler market remained dominated by ICE vehicles, with Honda Motorcycle leading overall sales at 4,68,789 units, followed by Hero MotoCorp at 4,34,280 units. However, EVs accounted for only 0.2% and 5.6% of their respective sales. Among legacy OEMs, Bajaj Auto recorded the highest EV penetration at 29.2% (48,429 units), followed by TVS Motor at 14.8% (54,037 units). Royal Enfield, Suzuki and Yamaha remained predominantly ICE-focused, with EV shares below 1%. Among pure EV manufacturers, Ather Energy recorded 30,533 units, followed by Ola Electric (13,451 units) and Ampere Vehicles (9,317 units).

In September 2026, Bajaj Auto led the three-wheeler passenger auto segment with 40,036 units, of which 34.7% were electric. Mahindra Last Mile Mobility recorded the highest EV penetration among major legacy OEMs at 98.6%, with 13,417 EVs out of 13,607 units sold. TVS Motor also reported a relatively high EV share of 63.3%, while Piaggio Vehicles and Atul Auto recorded EV shares of 22.9% and 19.5%, respectively. Pure EV players Mini Metro (986 units), Saera Electric (971 units), and YC Electric (871 units) reported 100% electric sales.
India’s Leading OEMs – Goods L5 3W Sales | Sep 2026

In September 2026, Bajaj Auto led the three-wheeler cargo segment with 6,167 units, of which 11.9% were electric. Mahindra Last Mile Mobility recorded the highest EV share among legacy OEMs at 64.9%, followed by TVS Motor at 30.7%. Piaggio Vehicles (3.6%) and Atul Auto (5.4%) remained largely ICE-driven. Meanwhile, pure EV players YC Electric (494 units), Omega Seiki (379 units), and Saera Electric Auto (291 units) reported 100% electric sales.
Leading Passenger Vehicle OEMs | ICE vs EV, Sep 2026

In September 2026, the passenger vehicle segment was led by Maruti Suzuki India with 1,69,040 units, with EVs accounting for 0.7%. Tata Motors recorded a 25.9% EV share, followed by Mahindra & Mahindra at 13.6%. JSW MG Motor India reported the highest EV penetration among established OEMs at 81%, while Kia (4.7%), Hyundai (1.6%), and Toyota (0.8%) had relatively lower EV shares. VinFast Auto India recorded 2,963 units, all electric. Skoda Auto Volkswagen India, Honda Cars India, Renault and Nissan recorded no EV sales during the month. In the luxury segment, BMW India had a 25.5% EV share, compared with 7.1% for Mercedes-Benz India.
Category wise EV Penetration, Sep 2026

In September 2026, EV penetration increased across most vehicle categories. EVs accounted for 11.6% of 2W sales, up from 10.7% in August and 8.2% in September 2025. EV share in 3W L5M (passenger) reached 55.8%, compared with 54.1% in August and 32.4% a year ago, while 3W L5N (cargo) rose to 32.6% from 30.6% and 24.7%, respectively. 4W EV penetration increased to 8.5%, from 7.8% in August and 5.8% a year earlier. However, EV share in goods carriers declined to 3.7% from 4.8% in August, while remaining above 2% recorded in September 2025.
