Electric vehicle sales in India showed a mixed trend in December 2025 compared to November. E2W sales declined to 97,399 units from 117,648 in November. E3W L5 Passenger also fell to 20,355 from 23,994, while e-carts declined to 7,607 from 8,155. E4W sales dipped slightly to 14,870 units from 15,502. In contrast, e-rickshaw sales increased to 57,434 units from 48,816 in November. E3W L5 Cargo/Goods rose to 2,894 from 2,707, E-bus sales grew to 569 from 369, and e-goods carriers increased to 1,392 units from 1,297.

India recorded 22,70,346 EV sales from Jan 2025 to Dec 2025, per Vahan Dashboard data (excluding Telangana and low-speed e-2Ws). Monthly sales peaked in October 2025 (2,36,577) and were lowest in February 2025 (1,40,172).

EV penetration in the two-wheeler (2W) category increased from 4.6% in Nov 2025 to 7.4% in Dec 2025.

In December 2025, the electric three wheeler goods sales were led by Mahindra Last Mile Mobility, Bajaj Auto, and Omega Seiki.

In December 2025, the e-rickshaw sales were led by Zeniak Innovation, Hooghly Motors and YC Electric.

In December 2025, the e-cart sales were led by Neptune Green, followed by J.S. Auto and Dilli Electric.

The penetration of electric vehicles (EVs) in the four-wheeler passenger car/cab segment increased from 3.9% in November to 4% in December 2025.

Tata Motors is the clear leader, with over 40% of the market share, followed by JSW MG Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra.

Tata Motors is the clear leader with over 37% market share in e-goods carrier sales in December 2025, followed by Euler Motors and Mahindra Last Mile Mobility.
