Vimag Labs Begins Manufacturing in Jhajjar, Haryana; Plans ₹50 Crore Investment
Vimag Labs, a Bengaluru-based electric motor technology company, has commenced manufacturing operations at its first facility in Met City, Jhajjar, Haryana. The facility produces motor and control systems, including the company’s proprietary magnet-free motor technology. Vimag has also completed and exported its first production batch from the facility.
The company plans to invest approximately ₹50 crore in a phased manufacturing expansion in India, with the timing and scale of investment dependent on customer demand, production volumes and capacity requirements.
The Jhajjar facility currently covers 10,000 sq. ft., with provision for expansion to approximately 20,000 sq. ft. It includes clean-room areas, automated production lines, digitally connected manufacturing systems, Industry 4.0 and IoT-enabled monitoring, and product testing and traceability systems. The initial phase focuses on the production and process validation of mid-power motor and control systems for electric mobility and other electrified applications.

Vimag aims to develop a manufacturing network with a capacity of up to 10,000 motor and control systems per month, depending on customer demand and programme volumes. The company also plans to expand into high-power motor and control systems rated at 570 kW and above as customer programmes progress. This expansion will require additional manufacturing, testing and production infrastructure. Vimag is evaluating additional manufacturing locations and partnerships across India to support domestic and international customer programmes.
The proposed ₹50 crore investment will be deployed in phases based on customer requirements, production scale-up and market demand. The company expects the manufacturing expansion to generate approximately 100–150 direct and indirect employment opportunities across manufacturing, engineering, quality, testing, supply chain and operations.
Vimag Labs recently raised US$5 million in Series A funding, led by Accel, with participation from Chakra Growth Fund and Thinkuvate. The company has also signed a manufacturing MoU with Jendamark Pvt. Ltd. to support the scale-up of its VMSM (Virtual Magnet Synchronous Motor) technology. Additionally, Vimag has secured an exclusive U.S. technology licensing, manufacturing and commercialisation agreement for a bidirectional high-voltage inverter platform capable of operating at up to 1,000 volts.
Manish Seth, Co-founder and CEO, Vimag Labs, said: “The commencement of manufacturing marks an important transition for Vimag from technology development and validation into industrialisation and serial production. Jhajjar is the first step in a broader manufacturing build-out. We are currently planning around Rs 50 crore of investment, to be deployed in phases as customer programmes, traction and product requirements develop. The scale and timing of investment will evolve with demand as we build capacity and deepen our manufacturing base. The first production batch has already been exported from Jhajjar, demonstrating that the facility has moved into commercial manufacturing. Our initial focus is on scaling mid-power motor and control systems for commercial programmes. As customer programmes mature, we plan to extend manufacturing into high-power systems of 570 kW and above and deepen partnerships across India for manufacturing, supply chain, tooling and industrialisation. Our long-term goal is to build a globally competitive production base in India for domestic and international customers.”
