Ola Electric Secures Certification for its Rare-Earth Free Ferrite Motor
Ola Electric has become the first two-wheeler EV manufacturer to receive government certification for its in-house developed rare-earth-free ferrite motor. The certification was granted by the Global Automotive Research Centre (GARC) in Tamil Nadu.
The ferrite motor underwent mandatory motor power and performance tests in accordance with AIS 041 standards, as notified by the Ministry of Road Transport, Government of India. The motor was tested in 7kW and 11kW variants and demonstrated performance equivalent to rare-earth permanent magnet motors.
Ola Electric will now begin integrating the certified ferrite motor across its entire range of electric two-wheelers. The company had initially unveiled the motor at its ‘Sankalp 2025’ event in August 2025.
