EKA Mobility secures investment from Mitsui (Japan) and VDL Group (Netherlands) for EV manufacturing

Mitsui & Co., Ltd. and Dutch EV bus manufacturer VDL have invested in Pinnacle Mobility Solutions Private Limited, a Pune based start-up focused on electric buses and small commercial vehicles under the EKA brand. This investment is geared towards advancing the electrification and decarbonization of mobility.

India is actively promoting EV adoption to address air pollution. By 2030, the government aims for EVs to constitute specific percentages in various vehicle categories (70% of commercial vehicles, 30% of passenger cars, 40% of buses, and 80% of motorcycles and three-wheelers). Pinnacle Mobility is targeting public service vehicles and e-commerce last-mile logistics and aims to fully transition the manufacturing of route buses and other vehicles to EVs by 2030, as claimed in their official statement.

Utilizing Pinnacle Mobility’s engineering capabilities and local procurement network, VDL’s technological expertise, and Mitsui’s global network, the objective is to establish India as a global hub for EV manufacturing under the EKA brand.
