SWITCH Mobility completes export of 100 electric buses to Mauritius

SWITCH Mobility, a manufacturer of electric buses and light commercial vehicles and part of the Hinduja Group, has completed the delivery of 100 electric buses to the Government of Mauritius.

According to the company, the final batch of 90 buses was handed over by India’s External Affairs Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar, to Mauritius Prime Minister Dr. Navinchandra Ramgoolam as part of an engagement involving officials from both countries. The buses were supplied through an open tender conducted by Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL) in India and will be operated by the National Transport Corporation (NTC), Mauritius’ state-owned public transport operator.

The company said this is the largest export of electric buses from India to date. The delivery is part of a government-to-government arrangement under which the Government of India is donating 100 electric buses to the Government of Mauritius to support public transport electrification in the country.

The buses supplied are the SWITCH EiV12 model, with seating capacity for up to 45 passengers. The vehicles are equipped with the company’s telematics platform, SWITCH iON, for vehicle health monitoring, transport management, and fleet operations. The buses use lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries mounted on the floor and include a rear dual-gun charging interface for depot charging.

Commenting on the completion of the order, Ganesh Mani, CEO, SWITCH Mobility, said “Mauritius is taking meaningful strides towards building a cleaner and more sustainable public transport system, and we are proud to be part of this journey. The completion of this 100-bus delivery marks an important milestone in strengthening the country’s transition to electric mobility, with tangible benefits for urban efficiency, environmental sustainability, and everyday commuter experience. As a global EV manufacturer building in India for the world, Switch Mobility remains committed to supporting Mauritius in shaping a greener, more resilient, and future-ready transport ecosystem.”

The deployment supports Mauritius’ efforts to reduce transport emissions and improve public transport operations, while also marking a step in SWITCH Mobility’s international expansion. The company said it has deployed over 2,400 electric buses and 2,500 electric light commercial vehicles (SWITCH IeV Series) globally since its inception.
