Ravindra Energy associate EIM begins commercial sale of 55-ton electric tractor ‘Ashwa’
Ravindra Energy Limited (REL) has announced that its associate company, Energy in Motion Private Limited (EIM)—which offers electric tractors and related battery-swapping infrastructure through a service-based model—has received the CMVR Type Approval Certificate (TAC) from the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), along with the required approvals through the VAHAN portal. These approvals enable the commercial sale and registration of its 55-ton electric tractor, “Ashwa.”

EIM has completed the first commercial sale of the Ashwa electric tractor, which is reported to be India’s first battery-swappable, CMVR-compliant 55-ton electric tractor.
Commenting on the development, Mr. Narendra Murkumbi, Vice Chairman of Ravindra Energy and Managing Director of EIM, stated: “The ARAI certification and first commercial sale of Ashwa represent a landmark moment in our journey toward sustainable freight mobility. This achievement is the culmination of years of R&D by our technology partners Foton Motors, rigorous testing in India, and strong collaboration with regulatory authorities. We are proud to be at the forefront of India’s clean energy transition in heavy transport, and this validation paves the way for scaling our presence across key logistics corridors in India. The Ashwa is not just a vehicle—it’s a vision for a greener, more efficient logistics ecosystem.”
