Navalt ships first solar-electric leisure boat to North America

Navalt has shipped a Limo solar-electric leisure boat to Halifax, Canada, marking the company’s first vessel delivery to North America. The vessel, a 10-metre catamaran, was transported as a knock-down kit and packed into five shipping containers for assembly at the destination.

According to the company, the boat was designed for disassembly to facilitate containerized transport and reduce logistics costs. The shipment included two hulls transported separately, deck sections packed individually, a superstructure divided into three parts, and a separate container carrying the battery system and other outfitting components. In total, the vessel was shipped across five forty-foot equivalent unit (FEU) containers.

The Halifax-bound vessel has been configured for operation in cold-weather conditions. It is equipped with two 20 kWh marine-grade lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery packs, each incorporating an integrated heating system intended to support battery performance and charging in low temperature conditions. Propulsion is provided by two 15 kW inboard electric motors configured in an independent dual battery and dual motor architecture. According to Navalt, this configuration provides redundancy, allowing the vessel to continue operating if one system experiences a fault.

The Limo is a solar-electric leisure boat designed for private cruising. The Halifax-bound vessel retains the standard catamaran platform while incorporating modifications for local operating conditions. The boat measures 10 metres in length and 3.5 metres in width.

Assembly activities are currently underway in Halifax. The process includes joining the hulls, reassembling the deck and superstructure, and integrating the battery and outfitting systems. The company expects the vessel to be launched in July 2026.

According to Navalt, the project represents the company’s first vessel delivery to North America, its first export of a vessel as a fully engineered knock-down kit, and its first deployment of a battery system configured for cold-weather operation.
