India ICE vs EV sales | For top 2W, 3W, 4W OEMs in June 2025

In June 2025, the overall penetration of EVs in the 2W market was 7.3%. For passenger 3W L5 autos, it was 33.4%, and for cargo 3W L5 autos, it was 21.3% and for 4W, it was 4.5%. This article aims to showcase where EV sales stand for top OEMs compared to their overall vehicle sales in the 2W, 3W, and 4W categories.

In June 2025, the two-wheeler market recorded a total EV penetration of 7.3%, up from 6.1% in May. Hero MotoCorp led overall sales (3,93,832 units), with only 1.9% contributed by EVs. TVS Motor and Bajaj Auto showed notable EV adoption at 9% and 14.7%, respectively. Honda, Suzuki, Royal Enfield, and Yamaha remained almost entirely or fully ICE-reliant. Meanwhile, pure EV makers Ola Electric (20,190), Ather Energy (14,526), and Greaves Electric (4,223) reported 100% electric sales.

In June 2025, Bajaj Auto led the passenger three-wheeler (L5) market with 31,894 units sold, including 6,219 EVs (19.5% EV share). Mahindra Last Mile Mobility showed a strong EV push with 95.5% of its 6,618 units being electric. Piaggio Vehicles and TVS Motor followed with EV shares of 21.3% and 45%, respectively. Atul Auto (6.5%) and MLR Auto (5.8%) had lower EV contributions. TI Clean Mobility and Omega Seiki reported 100% EV sales, reflecting a full-electric strategy.

Overall EV penetration in the L5 passenger auto segment stood at 33.4% in June 2025, slightly up from 32.9% in May.

In June 2025, Bajaj Auto led the three-wheeler cargo (L5) market with 4,246 units sold, but only 6.1% were EVs. Mahindra Last Mile Mobility had the highest EV share among legacy players at 58%, followed by Atul Auto (6%), Piaggio (5.2%), and MLR Auto (1.6%). Omega Seiki, 3EV Industries, and Euler Motors reported 100% electric sales, highlighting their full commitment to EVs.

Overall EV penetration in the 3W goods (L5) segment was 21.3% in June 2025, slightly down from 23.6% in May.

In June 2025, 4W sales were led by Maruti Suzuki with 1,16,452 units, but the company continued to have no EV presence. Tata Motors recorded the highest EV volume with 4,705 units, contributing to a 14% EV share, followed by Mahindra & Mahindra (7.4%) and JSW MG Motor, which had the highest EV share at 80.2%. Hyundai (1.3%) and Kia (0.2%) had limited EV penetration, while Toyota, Skoda, Honda, and Renault remained fully ICE-dependent.

Overall EV penetration in the 4W segment stood at 4.5% in June 2025, up from 4.1% in May.
