India ICE vs EV Sales | For Top 2W, 3W, 4W OEMs in July 2026

In July 2026, the overall penetration of EVs in the 2W market was 11.2%. For passenger 3W L5 autos, it was 52.6%, and for cargo 3W L5 autos, it was 31.6% and for 4W, it was 7.9%. This article aims to showcase where EV sales stand compared to the overall vehicle sales in the 2W, 3W, and 4W categories.

Top Indian OEMs – 2W Sales | ICE vs EV, Jul 2026

In July 2026, the two-wheeler market continued to be dominated by ICE vehicles, with Honda Motorcycle leading overall sales at 4,69,466 units, though EVs accounted for just 0.2% of its sales. Hero MotoCorp recorded 4,40,537 units with 5.2% EV penetration. Among legacy OEMs, Bajaj Auto registered the highest EV penetration at 25%, followed by TVS Motor at 14.8%. Suzuki Motorcycle (0.04%), Royal Enfield (0.03%), and India Yamaha Motor (0.2%) remained overwhelmingly ICE-focused with minimal EV contribution. Meanwhile, pure EV manufacturers Ather Energy (30,317 units), Ola Electric (14,102 units), and Ampere Vehicles (10,127 units) recorded 100% EV sales.

In July 2026, Bajaj Auto led the three-wheeler passenger segment with 38,716 units, of which 32.4% were electric. Mahindra Last Mile Mobility continued its strong electrification with 98% of its sales being EVs. TVS Motor recorded 64.3% EV penetration, while Piaggio Vehicles registered 21.2%, and Atul Auto remained largely ICE-focused with 16.6% EV penetration. Meanwhile, pure EV manufacturers Mini Metro (995 units), Dilli Electric Auto (697 units), and Omega Seiki (498 units) recorded 100% EV sales, reflecting fully electric product portfolios in the segment.

In July 2026, Bajaj Auto led the three-wheeler cargo segment with 5,773 units, of which 8.6% were electric. Mahindra Last Mile Mobility recorded the highest EV penetration among legacy OEMs at 64.3%, followed by TVS Motor at 28.6%. Piaggio Vehicles (3.7%) and Atul Auto (6%) remained predominantly ICE-focused with relatively low EV adoption. Meanwhile, pure EV manufacturers Omega Seiki (368 units), Dilli Electric Auto (295 units), and Euler Motors (279 units) recorded 100% EV sales, reflecting fully electric portfolios in the cargo three-wheeler segment.

In July 2026, the passenger vehicle segment continued to be led by Maruti Suzuki India with 1,61,372 units, with EVs contributing just 1% of its sales. JSW MG Motor India recorded the highest EV share at 80.9%, while among the larger domestic OEMs, Tata Motors (23.3%) and Mahindra & Mahindra (13.8%) reported the strongest EV contribution to total sales. Hyundai Motor India (1.2%), Kia India (1.8%), and Toyota Kirloskar Motor (0.4%) had relatively low EV penetration, while Skoda Auto Volkswagen India, Honda Cars India, Renault India, and Nissan Motor India recorded no EV sales during the month. In the luxury segment, BMW India (21.6%) outpaced Mercedes-Benz (10.7%) in EV share. Meanwhile, VinFast Auto India recorded 100% EV sales, reflecting its fully electric product portfolio.

In July 2026, EV penetration increased across most vehicle categories in India. The 2W segment reached 11.2% (up from 10.6% in June and 7.7% a year ago), while 3W L5 Passenger climbed to 52.6% and 3W L5 Cargo to 31.6%. 4W EV penetration remained unchanged at 7.9%, compared with 5.2% in July 2025. Meanwhile, goods carrier EV penetration improved to 3.6%, up from 3.4% in June and 1.4% a year earlier.
