India ICE vs EV sales | For top 2W, 3W, 4W OEMs in June 2026
In June 2026, the overall penetration of EVs in the 2W market was 10.6%. For passenger 3W L5 autos, it was 50.1%, and for cargo 3W L5 autos, it was 30.5% and for 4W, it was 7.7%. This article aims to showcase where EV sales stand compared to the overall vehicle sales in the 2W, 3W, and 4W categories.

Top Indian OEMs – 2W Sales | ICE vs EV, Jun 2026

In June 2026, the two-wheeler market continued to be dominated by ICE vehicles, with Hero MotoCorp leading overall sales at 4,71,990 units, although EVs accounted for only 4.6% of its sales. Honda Motorcycle remained almost entirely ICE-driven with just 0.2% EV penetration, while Suzuki Motorcycle India (0.04%), Royal Enfield (0.1%), and India Yamaha Motor (0.2%) also recorded negligible EV contributions. Among legacy OEMs, Bajaj Auto reported the highest EV penetration at 23%, followed by TVS Motor at 13.1%, reflecting a relatively stronger transition toward electric mobility. Meanwhile, pure EV manufacturers Ather Energy (31,213 units), Ola Electric (16,145 units), and Ampere Vehicles (10,934 units) recorded 100% EV sales.

In June 2026, Bajaj Auto led the three-wheeler passenger segment with 35,025 units, of which 29.9% were electric. Mahindra Last Mile Mobility continued to demonstrate one of the highest levels of electrification, with 98.1% of its sales comprising EVs. TVS Motor recorded a strong 61.7% EV share, while Piaggio Vehicles (21.8%) and Atul Auto (17.3%) maintained a relatively higher dependence on ICE vehicles. Meanwhile, pure EV manufacturers Mini Metro (616 units), Dilli Electric Auto (580 units), and Omega Seiki (402 units) reported 100% EV sales, reflecting fully electric product portfolios in the passenger three-wheeler segment.

In June 2026, Bajaj Auto led the three-wheeler cargo segment with 5,506 units, of which 8.4% were electric. Mahindra Last Mile Mobility recorded the highest EV penetration among legacy OEMs at 63.2%, followed by TVS Motor with 29.7%. Piaggio Vehicles (5.9%) and Atul Auto (5.6%) continued to have relatively low EV shares, indicating a stronger reliance on ICE models. Meanwhile, pure EV manufacturers Omega Seiki (341 units), Dilli Electric Auto (285 units), and Euler Motors (243 units) reported 100% EV sales, reflecting fully electric product portfolios in the cargo three-wheeler segment.

In June 2026, the passenger vehicle segment was led by Maruti Suzuki India with 1,67,312 units, with EVs contributing just 1.1% of its sales. Among major OEMs, Tata Motors (21.3%) and Mahindra & Mahindra (14.4%) recorded relatively higher EV penetration. JSW MG Motor India continued to lead in electrification, with 83.8% of its sales comprising EVs, while VinFast Auto India reported a 100% EV portfolio. Hyundai Motor India (0.8%), Kia India (1.9%), and Toyota Kirloskar Motor (0.1%) had limited EV penetration, whereas Skoda Auto Volkswagen India, Honda Cars India, Renault India, and Nissan Motor India reported no EV sales during the month. In the luxury segment, BMW India recorded a higher EV share (29.1%) than Mercedes-Benz India (14.6%), highlighting stronger EV adoption within its sales mix.

In June 2026, EV penetration increased across all major vehicle categories compared to both May 2026 and June 2025. Electric two-wheelers accounted for 10.6% of total 2W sales, up from 9.3% in May 2026 and 7.3% a year earlier. The L5 passenger three-wheeler segment remained the most electrified, with EVs comprising 50.1% of sales, compared to 49.3% in May 2026 and 32.3% in June 2025. EV penetration in the L5 cargo three-wheeler segment rose to 30.5%, up from 28.8% in the previous month and 21.0% a year ago. In the passenger vehicle (4W) segment, EV share reached 7.7%, compared to 6.8% in May 2026 and 4.8% in June 2025. Meanwhile, electric goods carriers accounted for 3.4% of total sales, up from 2.9% in May 2026 and 1.1% in June 2025.
