BEML Unveils 60-Ton Electric Dump Truck BH60-EV
Bangalore-based BEML Limited unveiled 60-ton electric dump truck, BH60-EV, at its Mysuru Complex on September 30, 2026. According to the company, it is India’s first indigenously designed and developed electric dump truck in the 60-ton category. The vehicle was launched virtually by Shantanu Roy, Chairman and Managing Director of BEML, in the presence of company officials and employees.
Features of the BEML BH60-EV:
- Developed at BEML’s Mysuru facility, the BH60-EV is equipped with a 1,000 kWh high-voltage lithium-ion battery pack and a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) integrated with a gearbox.
- The vehicle offers a payload capacity of 54,500 kg and a volumetric body capacity of 36.4 cubic metres.
- The electric powertrain is designed to provide the torque and tractive effort required for heavy-duty mining operations, including operation on gradients.
- The cabin is equipped with a Roll-Over Protective Structure (ROPS), emergency steering and sealed oil-cooled disc brakes.
According to BEML, the BH60-EV is designed to deliver 40–60% lower operating costs compared with conventional diesel-powered equipment. The company also estimates that each vehicle could reduce CO₂ emissions by approximately 130 tonnes annually, depending on operating conditions.

BEML also offers charging station solutions designed to integrate with existing site electrical infrastructure and support fleet operations. The charging infrastructure can be configured according to customers’ operational requirements.
The BH60-EV follows BEML’s launch of its 35-ton electric dump truck on April 10, 2026.
