Ather Energy – community day roundup

Ather Energy recently held its first community day. Tarun Mehta, CEO and co-founder of Ather energy, took on the stage to make a number of announcements along with the launch of new colours for the electric scooter. Following is the brief of all the announcements from the event.

– Ather energy currently has a production capacity of 4.2L units per annum, which is expected to be fully utilized by the festive season in Oct’23. They are also planning to scale the capacity to 15L units in future.

– Plans to have 250 touchpoints across the country by March’23.

– AtherStack 5.0 is said to be the largest software upgrade from the company.

– Introduction of a new UI and changed layout of the dashboard, along with more focus on swipe gestures instead of touch input.

– Revamped UI on the ride screen, which now Ather calls “wings of power”.

– Introduction of Vector maps for navigation, which also comes with features like perspective change and live traffic updates.

– Introduction of Autohold feature, which can work on a slope of up to 16-degree angles and can be kept engaged as long as required.

Ather Battery Protect which allows extended warranty by additional 2 years to a total of 5 years and 60,000 Kms.

– New seats, which are 14% thicker throughout and compatible with all the existing versions.

– Four new colour options, which include True Red, Cosmic Black, Salt Green, & Lunar Grey.

Ather also plans to have a total of 1300 fast chargers across the country by March’23. Ather “neighborhood” charger was also announced at the event, which is a 3.3 KW AC charger and can be for all EVs: 2W, 3W, and 4W. These chargers are already up for order, and users can reach out to Ather to get them installed.

For the existing owners of Ather 450 (Gen 1, 1.5), an upgrade plan was also announced by Ather. The upgrade cost for <36 months scooters is INR 80,000, and that for >36 months is INR 90,000. Both category users can avail further Rs. 10,000 discount if they upgrade within the next 2 months till March’23.
