Blue Energy Motors and HPCL Open Electric Truck Battery-Swapping Station in Bhiwandi, Maharashtra
Blue Energy Motors (BEM), in partnership with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), has commissioned a battery-swapping station for electric heavy-duty trucks in Bhiwandi, Maharashtra. The facility is part of the partnership announced in January 2026 and extends the Mumbai–Pune Electric Freight Corridor launched by BEM in October 2025.
The station enables battery swapping for BEM’s electric heavy-duty trucks in less than five minutes, reducing the time required for energy replenishment. The facility is located in Bhiwandi, a logistics and warehousing hub within the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.

The site also includes a public EV charging station for electric two-wheelers, four-wheelers and commercial vehicles. The facility combines battery-swapping services for heavy-duty trucks with charging infrastructure for other EV segments within HPCL’s retail network. The facility is part of BEM’s efforts to expand the energy infrastructure supporting electric freight transport. The partnership also involves using HPCL’s retail network to provide battery-swapping and charging services.
Commenting on the development, Anand Mimani, CEO – EV & New Energy Business, Blue Energy Motors, said, “Our focus at Blue Energy Motors is on making electric freight a practical and scalable reality in India. Our partnership with HPCL brings together our strengths to build the energy infrastructure needed to support this transition. Bhiwandi, with its strong freight and logistics activity, is an important market for us. This first facility is a meaningful step forward, and we look forward to expanding our network of battery-swapping and charging facilities across key markets, supporting electric trucking and serving the wider EV ecosystem.”
According to BEM, more than 1,400 of its electric and LNG-powered heavy-duty trucks are operating on freight routes across India. The company manufactures electric and LNG-powered heavy-duty trucks and offers energy-as-a-service and maintenance support for freight operations. BEM also reported that its trucks have covered over 150 million kilometres, resulting in an estimated reduction of more than 44,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions, equivalent to the carbon absorption of approximately 1.8 million trees.
Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) is a Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India. It operates over 25,000 retail outlets and has established more than 5,800 EV charging stations and 150 battery-swapping stations under its HP e-Charge brand.
