UltraTech Plans 600+ Electric Truck Fleet By December 2026

UltraTech Cement Limited, an Aditya Birla Group company, plans to expand its electric truck fleet to more than 600 vehicles by December 2026 as part of its logistics operations. The company has signed service contracts with electric prime mover manufacturers including Tata Motors, Ashok Leyland, IPLTech, Energy in Motion and Sany, along with their subsidiaries and third-party logistics providers, for the deployment of electric trucks.

The 600+ electric trucks are expected to transport around 5 million MT of clinker and other key materials annually across Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra and Odisha. According to UltraTech, once fully operational, the fleet could reduce net annual CO₂ emissions by more than 117,000 tonnes and displace the equivalent of approximately 39 million litres of diesel per year.

UltraTech said it began deploying CNG trucks in 2021 and electric trucks in 2024. The company currently operates more than 850 trucks across its CNG and electric vehicle logistics operations.

UltraTech’s electrification strategy covers logistics activities including mine-to-plant movement and inter-plant transportation of clinker and other key materials. The company has over 200 MTPA of grey cement capacity in India and has committed to the GCCA’s Climate Ambition 2050 and Net Zero Concrete roadmap.
