Tata Power to install EV charging stations in Ayodhya

Tata Power, a prominent player in the electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure sector, has partnered with the Ayodhya Development Authority to establish EV charging stations in public parking areas throughout Ayodhya.

Tata Power plans to install EV charging points at select locations accessible to the public, such as Parking Survya Kund, Guptar Ghat, Amaniganj multi-level parking, Kaushesh Kunj MLCP parking, Tedhi Bazar MLCP parking, and the Collectorate Office parking. These sites have been strategically chosen to provide convenient and accessible charging facilities for EV users, ensuring a seamless charging experience across Ayodhya.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony took place in Ayodhya, with key dignitaries, including officials from the Ayodhya Development Authority and Tata Power’s Head of Business Development (EV Charging) – Virendra Goyal, in attendance.

The partnership between Tata Power and the Ayodhya Development Authority holds significance due to Ayodhya’s religious importance and popularity as a tourist destination. By installing EV charging infrastructure in public parking areas, the collaboration sends an impactful message to residents, pilgrims, and tourists about the importance of transitioning to cleaner and greener modes of transportation. This initiative contributes to a more sustainable and environmentally conscious society in Ayodhya.

The Vice Chairman of the Ayodhya Development Authority highlighted, “This partnership between Tata Power and Ayodhya Development Authority is a significant milestone in promoting sustainable mobility in our pilgrimage city. By establishing EV charging infrastructure in public parking locations, we are not only providing convenient and accessible charging facilities for electric vehicle users but also highlighting our commitment to environmental preservation in a city of immense religious importance. Joining hands with Tata Power aligns with our vision of transforming Ayodhya into a cleaner and greener spot, ensuring a sustainable future for pilgrims and tourists, and contributing to the state’s holistic approach towards promoting EV adoption.”

“Our approach encompasses a comprehensive focus on infrastructure development, technological innovation, and strategic collaborations, and we are pleased to extend our endeavours to a city like Ayodhya, which holds immense cultural importance,” stated Virendra Goyal.

The Uttar Pradesh government has taken various measures to encourage the adoption of electric vehicles within the state. These include a three-year exemption from tax and registration fees for EV purchases and a five-year exemption for EVs manufactured within the state. These incentives make EVs more affordable and accessible to the people of Uttar Pradesh. Ayodhya actively contributes to this promotion by establishing EV charging infrastructure and creating a supportive ecosystem for electric mobility.

Tata Power, a significant EV charging infrastructure operator in India, has successfully deployed 110 public and semi-public charging stations throughout Uttar Pradesh. On a national scale, the company has installed more than 40,000 home chargers, 4,000 public and semi-public charging points, and 250 bus-charging points. Tata Power is actively expanding its charging network, energizing chargers in 350 cities across the country.
