Pulse Energy integrates HPCL’s HPe Charge EV network into unified access platform
Pulse Energy has announced a partnership with HPe Charge, the EV charging brand of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), to integrate HPCL’s network of more than 5,000 EV chargers into Pulse Energy’s access and payments platform. The integration allows EV users to locate, access, and pay for charging at HPCL stations through a single interface.
India’s EV charging sector has operated through multiple networks and separate applications. Recent developments indicate a move toward interoperability, where different charging networks can be accessed through common platforms rather than being managed independently.
Through this partnership, HPCL becomes part of Pulse Energy’s network of charging operators, which includes Shell, ChargeZone, BESCOM, Thunderplus, and other regional and national providers.
Pulse Energy focuses on enabling access and payments across existing charging infrastructure rather than deploying charging assets. According to the company, its platform currently supports approximately 18 million electric kilometres driven per month across partner networks.
Akhil Jayaprakash, Co-Founder of Pulse Energy, stated that “India doesn’t have an EV range anxiety problem, it has an access problem. We’re slowly building the infrastructure no one sees, but everyone uses.”
HPCL has been expanding its EV charging presence across highways, fuel stations, and urban locations under the HPe Charge brand. The integration with Pulse Energy increases the number of HPCL chargers accessible through a unified platform, including those used for intercity travel.
For EV users, the partnership reduces the need to manage multiple applications and payment systems. For charging operators, it may support better utilisation of existing infrastructure. At the sector level, the development reflects a shift toward collaboration among charging networks as the EV market in India continues to develop. Such platform-level integrations may play a role alongside charger deployment in improving the overall charging experience for EV users across the country.
