E-2W and E-3W (Cargo & Passenger) vehicles accounted for 87,912 of the total 92,383 electric vehicles sold in September 2022.

  • In September 2022, 51,776 high speed e-2Ws were sold, compared to 16,672 units sold in September 2021. Sales of the Electric 3W Passenger Vehicle (L3+L5) reached 33,449 units, a 130.6 per cent increase over the same month last year.
  • Sales of Electric 3W Cargo Vehicles increased from 1,825 units in September 2021 to 2,687 units in September 2022, while the sales of e-4W rose from 1,250 units to 4,240 units over the last year.

In September 2022, electric vehicles made up 5.06% of the total 2Ws sold across India, up from 1.82% in September 2021.

OLA Electric sold the highest number of e-2Ws in September 2022 followed by Okinawa Autotech and Hero Electric. OLA Electric registered a 180.32% M-o-M increase in sales of their electric scooter.

In September 2022, 60% of the total 3W Passenger Vehicles sold were electric, up from 49% in the same month last year.

For E-3W Passenger vehicles, the top 10 OEMs contributed only 42% of the total sales in September 2022. Both L3 and L5 Electric 3Wheelers are included in the analysis. Mahindra & Mahindra, YC Electric Vehicle and Saera Electric are the top 3 sellers of September 2022.

For the goods 3W segment, the EV penetration rose from 24% in Sep 2021 to 35% in Sep 2022.

For E-3W Cargo vehicles, the top 10 OEMs contributed 55% of the total sales in Sep 2022. Both L3 and L5 Electric 3Wheelers are included in the analysis. Mahindra & Mahindra, Piaggio Vehicles and Omega Seiki are the top 3 sellers of Sep 2022.

For electric-4Wheeler segment, TATA Motors remained the undisputed leader with 3,655 EV Sales and a market share of 86.20% in September 2022 but has seen a decrease of 4.94% as compared to the last month sales.
