Electric vehicle sales in India witnessed an overall uptick in May 2025 compared to April. Electric two-wheeler (E2W) registrations rose from 92,391 to 1,00,281 units. E-rickshaw sales also increased, going from 39,522 to 40,635 units. E3W L5 Passenger vehicles grew from 13,129 to 14,988 units, and e-cart sales climbed from 7,460 to 7,969 units. E3W L5 Cargo/Goods remained nearly flat at 2,425 units, up slightly from 2,422. However, electric four-wheeler (E4W) sales declined from 13,119 to 12,212 units. E-bus registrations improved modestly from 284 to 338 units.

India recorded 20,59,205 EV sales from Jun 2024 to May 2025, per Vahan Dashboard data (excluding Telangana and low-speed e-2Ws). Monthly sales peaked in October 2024 (2,19,717) and were lowest in June 2024 (1,40,143).

The penetration percentage of electric vehicles (EVs) in the two-wheeler (2W) category increased from 5.5% in April 2025 to 6.1% in May 2025.
