India’s Electric Vehicle sales trend | July 2025

Electric vehicle sales in India showed a mixed trend in July 2025. E2W sales declined to 1,02,924 units from 1,05,931 in June. E-rickshaw sales increased to 39,792 units from 35,364, while E3W L5 Passenger sales rose to 20,448 from 16,329. E-cart sales remained nearly unchanged at 6,813 units compared to 6,849 in June. E3W L5 Cargo/Goods also saw a slight increase to 2,092 units from 2,016. E4W sales grew to 15,437 units from 13,921. E-bus sales declined to 361 units from 531, while E-Goods Carrier sales rose to 875 from 617.

India recorded 21,11,554 EV sales from Aug 2024 to July 2025, per Vahan Dashboard data (excluding Telangana and low-speed e-2Ws). Monthly sales peaked in October 2024 (2,19,724) and were lowest in Feb 2025 (1,40,182).

The penetration percentage of electric vehicles (EVs) in the two-wheeler (2W) category increased from 7.3% in June 2025 to 7.6% in July 2025.

The top 3 brands for July 2025 regarding the number of electric passenger 3Ws registered are Mahindra Last Mile Mobility Ltd, Bajaj Auto and TVS Motor.

In July 2025, the electric three wheeler goods sales were led by Mahindra Last Mile Mobility, Bajaj Auto, and Omega Seiki.

Tata Motors is the clear leader, with over 39% of the market share, followed by JSW MG Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra.

JBM Auto sold the most electric buses in July 2025, followed by Olectra Greentech and PMI Electro Mobility.

Tata Motors sold the most E-Goods Carrier, with over 36% of the market share in July 2025, followed by Mahindra Last Mile Mobility and Switch Mobility.
