India ICE vs EV sales | For top 2W, 3W, 4W OEMs in February 2026

In February 2026, the overall penetration of EVs in the 2W market was 6.6%. For passenger 3W L5 autos, it was 34.8%, and for cargo 3W L5 autos, it was 22% and for 4W, it was 4.4%. This article aims to showcase where EV sales stand compared to the overall vehicle sales in the 2W, 3W, and 4W categories.

In February 2026, the two-wheeler market remained largely ICE-driven, with Hero MotoCorp leading at 4,57,826 units (2.7% EV share), followed by Honda Motorcycle at 4,31,253 units with a marginal EV contribution (0.04%). TVS Motor (3,33,935 units) and Bajaj Auto (1,80,846 units) reported relatively higher EV penetration at 9.5% and 14%, respectively. Suzuki Motorcycle also recorded a nominal EV presence (0.4%), while Royal Enfield, India Yamaha Motor, and Classic Legends reported no EV sales. Pure EV players Ather Energy (20,584 units) and Greaves Electric (4,725 units) continued with 100% EV sales.

In February 2026, Bajaj Auto led the passenger three-wheeler segment with 38,205 units, of which 21.2% were EVs. Mahindra Last Mile Mobility recorded 7,097 units with a high EV penetration of 95.6%, while Piaggio Vehicles (15.6%) and TVS Motor (46.8%) also reported notable EV shares. Atul Auto posted 12.7% EV contribution, and Baxy reported 40.8% EV penetration. Pure EV players Omega Seiki and TI Clean Mobility recorded 100% EV sales.

In February 2026, Bajaj Auto led the L5 goods three-wheeler segment with 6,176 units, of which 7.3% were EVs. Piaggio Vehicles recorded 3,127 units with 2.5% EV share, while Atul Auto reported 16% EV penetration. Mahindra Last Mile Mobility posted the highest EV share among legacy players at 56.1%. Pure EV manufacturers Omega Seiki, Euler Motors, and Green Evolve recorded 100% EV sales, while Baxy had a 5.7% EV contribution.

In February 2026, passenger vehicle sales were led by Maruti Suzuki with 1,54,012 units, with a negligible EV share (0.1%). Tata Motors (9.9%) and Mahindra & Mahindra (5.5%) showed notable EV penetration, while JSW MG Motor India recorded the highest EV share at 72.8%. Hyundai Motor India (0.7%) and Kia India (1.2%) had limited EV contribution, whereas Toyota Kirloskar Motor, Skoda Auto Volkswagen India, Honda Cars India, Renault India, and Nissan Motor India reported no EV sales. Mercedes-Benz India posted a 4.7% EV share, indicating selective electrification in the premium segment.

In February 2026, EVs made up 6.6% of 2W sales (flat vs January, up from 5.7% last year). EV share in 3W L5M was 34.8% (up from 33.8% in January and well above 26.7% last year), and in 3W L5N it reached 22% (up from 21.9% in January but slightly below 22.6% last year). For 4Ws, EVs reached 4.4% (flat vs January, up from 3.1% last year), while goods carriers stood at 1.6% (down from 1.7% in January and up from 0.7% a year ago).
