Greaves Electric Mobility and Indofast Energy partner for battery-swapping e-scooter

Greaves Electric Mobility Limited (GEML), the electric mobility division of Greaves Cotton Limited (GCL), has partnered with Indofast Energy, a joint venture between Indian Oil and SUN Mobility, to support last-mile transportation for B2B fleets and ride-sharing services. The collaboration aims to provide electric two-wheelers (e-2Ws) with battery-swapping technology.

As part of this partnership, the Ampere ‘Magnus SW.S’ will be introduced, featuring Indofast Energy’s battery-swapping technology. This model is designed for riders covering over 100 km daily, with battery-swapping intended to reduce downtime. Indofast Energy’s battery-swapping network allows users to replace depleted batteries with charged ones, potentially lowering operational costs. This partnership aligns with Greaves’ strategy of expanding mobility solutions and Indofast Energy’s focus on battery swapping as a charging method.

The Ampere ‘Magnus SW.S’ is equipped with a 2.4 kW motor, designed for operation on gradients and under heavy loads. The scooter has a payload capacity of 151 kg. It is also IoT-enabled, offering connectivity features for fleet management.

Arun Srivastava, Head of B2B Business at Greaves Electric Mobility, stated that “Our partnership with Indofast Energy represents a step forward in addressing the evolving needs of the mobility sector. By integrating advanced battery-swapping technology with the Magnus platform, we are aiming to enable quick, efficient, and sustainable operations for businesses and gig economy partners.”

Rajat Malhan, Senior Vice President, Indofast Energy, said, “Indofast Energy remains committed to delivering technologically advanced, convenient, and sustainable solutions to drive green mobility in India.  Ampere Magnus SW.S is a fantastic addition to our suite of offerings especially for commercial applications. This vehicle will be available not only for fleets but also for driver cum gig operators through Ampere’s network. We are looking to deploy 50,000+ vehicles in the next year via our fleet partners and driver-owners. Together, we are not just enabling efficient and eco-friendly last-mile connectivity but also empowering businesses and gig workers with smarter, cost-effective mobility solutions.”
