EV startup Raptee introduces its inaugural motorcycle from Chennai facility

Raptee Energy, a Chennai-based electric vehicle (EV) startup, has unveiled its first production-ready electric motorcycle at its manufacturing plant at Chennai.

The motorcycles feature patented technologies such as a high-voltage drivetrain, charging via CCS2 infrastructure, and advanced driver assistance systems for safety. According to an official statement, Raptee aims to meet the increasing demand for sustainable transportation solutions by manufacturing 100,000 units annually. In acknowledgement of its employees’ contribution, Raptee Energy hosted an internal event in Chennai.

The assembly line in Chennai is now operational, with the company preparing for a commercial launch that is expected within the quarter. The initial batch of motorcycles is set to undergo testing and homologation processes, which include ARAI certification and on-road safety checks to ensure quality and safety standards are met. Raptee plans to establish a distribution network across India, starting from Chennai, and expanding to other cities in India. This Chennai store will function as a sales point and provide customers with a holistic brand experience, featuring a guided tour of the manufacturing facility to witness the motorcycle crafting process.

The company’s CEO & Co-founder, Dinesh Arjun commented, “At Raptee, for over 4 years, we have imagined and reimagined electric motorcycles to give consumers not just a replacement but an actual upgrade from traditional ICE alternatives. After years of hard work, we are thrilled to introduce our first production-ready motorcycle, a testament to our dedication to innovation and sustainability. This milestone not only represents our growth as a company but also reflects our commitment to providing tech savvy, thrilling riding experience along with complete safety and freedom from range anxiety.”

Jayapradeep (JP) Vasudevan, Raptee’s CBO, highlighted the company’s strategic approach to marketing and distribution: “We are well-prepared to establish a strong distribution network for our motorcycles, starting from Chennai and expanding to other cities in India. Our pan-India strategy will ensure widespread availability and accessibility for customers across the country. The hybrid approach with online and offline channels has been designed to provide a delightful consumer experience throughout their journey with the brand.”
