Chartered Speed, a bus passenger mobility services company, and EKA Mobility, an automotive and technology company focused on commercial vehicle electrification, have partnered to deploy 1,135 electric buses under the Government of India’s Pradhan Mantri e-Bus Sewa Scheme.

The companies recently received a Letter of Confirmation of Quantity (LOCQ) for 235 buses, in addition to an earlier confirmation for 900 buses. According to the companies, the combined deployment of 1,135 buses is expected to serve over 3.6 lakh passengers daily and generate more than 2,500 jobs.

Of the 235 buses under the latest allocation, Chartered Speed will procure, operate, and maintain 110 buses in Madhya Pradesh, 60 in Odisha, 35 in Chhattisgarh, and 30 in Meghalaya. Chartered Speed and EKA Mobility will jointly manage operations, combining the former’s experience in transport services with the latter’s vehicle manufacturing expertise.

Mr. Sanyam Gandhi, Whole-Time Director, Chartered Speed said “This allocation under the PM e-Bus Sewa Scheme, along with our partnership with EKA Mobility, is a significant step in that direction. It reflects our commitment to creating reliable mobility solutions that ease commuting, support local communities and contribute to India’s green mobility mission.”

Mr. Rohit Srivastava, Business Head & Chief Growth Officer, EKA Mobility, said, “Through the PM e-Bus Sewa Scheme and our collaboration with Chartered Speed, we are proud to deploy 1,135 electric buses that will serve lakhs of citizens every day.
