BNC Motors unveils three e-2Ws with swappable batteries
Bangalore, June 2023 – Bharat New Energy Company (BNC) Motors, formerly known as Boom Motors, revealed three new electric 2-Wheeler models at the Green Vehicle Expo 2023 in Bangalore. The company also introduced its in-house developed swappable battery called ETROL 40.
BNC Motors plans to launch the new 2W models in December 2023, focusing initially on establishing a strong dealership network in South India. The availability of these models in the North Indian market is expected to commence in January 2024.
The company has also entered a strategic partnership with Musashi, a renowned Japanese auto parts manufacturer, who unveiled their plans to invest Rs 70 crore in the first phase of setting up e-axle manufacturing in India.
The models unveiled during the event
Challenger S110: This 2-Wheeler boasts a BLDC hub motor with a peak power output of 3kW and a top speed of 75 kmph. Equipped with a single ETROL 40 removable battery, offering a capacity of 2.1 kWh, the vehicle can be fully charged in 4 hours using a normal charger or in just 2 hours using fast charging technology. The estimated range on a single charge is 90 km (in low mode). The Challenger S110 has four colour options and is priced at INR 117,999/- ex-showroom.
Boss NR 150: With a powerful BLDC hub motor delivering a peak power output of 7.2kW, the Boss NR 150 offers exhilarating performance, reaching a top speed of 110 kmph and accelerating from 0 to 60 kmph in less than 6 seconds. It features two ETROL 40 removable batteries, providing a total capacity of 4.2 kWh. Similar to the Challenger S110, it can be fully charged in 4 hours using a normal charger or in 2 hours using fast charging technology. The estimated range on a single charge is 160 km (in low mode). The Boss NR 150 is available in two colour options and is priced at INR 159,999/- ex-showroom.
Perfetto: Designed as an electric scooter, the Perfetto comes equipped with a side-mounted motor delivering a peak power output of 3kW, allowing for a top speed of 80 kmph. It features a single ETROL 40 removable battery with a capacity of 2.1 kWh, offering a charging time of 4 hours with a standard charger or 2 hours with fast charging technology. The estimated range on a single charge is 80 km (in low mode). The Perfetto is set to be priced at INR 132,999/- ex-showroom.
BNC Motors also introduced a portable fast charger, capable of plugging into a standard three-pin 16A socket and charging the battery in two hours.
ETROL 40 Battery Pack
The ETROL 40 is a 2.1-kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery pack designed to meet the evolving needs of electric vehicles. With an IP67 waterproof and dustproof rating, the ETROL 40 is built to withstand various environmental conditions.
The battery has been certified to meet the latest standards, including AIS-156 Amendment 3 Phase 2. In addition to meeting the necessary safety requirements, the battery has undergone rigorous testing, including nail penetration, crushing, thermal testing up to 400 degrees Celsius, and continuous operations at over 45 degrees Celsius. To ensure maximum safety, the company has implemented multiple redundancies to prevent potential incidents.
The ETROL 40 battery pack includes an IoT module with a 5-year data plan and a 5-year warranty as standard, offering enhanced connectivity and functionality. BNC Motors has also made the battery open for use by other original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and battery manufacturers, further promoting the adoption of sustainable electric transportation solutions.
