Biliti Electric breaks ground for e-3W and battery pack factory in Hyderabad

On March 10th, 2024, Biliti Electric, a California-based startup, began construction of a new manufacturing facility in Velimela, Hyderabad. Spanning approximately 13 acres, the plant is expected to serve as a production centre for electric three-wheelers and Li-Ion battery packs for the Indian market. Along with company officials, Mrs Jennifer Larson, Consul General of USA, Hyderabad, and Mr Gopalakrishnan VC, Director of Automotive and EV, Govt. of Telangana, India, took part in laying the Foundation Stone.

The manufacturing facility will be designed to produce 2,000 electric three-wheelers per month and is anticipated to generate over 10,000 job opportunities. According to a company statement, the private investment for the new plant is estimated to exceed INR 400 crore.

Biliti Electric has assembly plants in the US, Portugal, and Kenya. The company said it has deployed its vehicles and batteries across 15 countries and 5 continents. Its e-3W Taskman is utilized by major entities like Amazon, IKEA, JUMIA, BigBasket (Tata), Voi Mobility, Zomato, and Flipkart (Walmart). Biliti Electric also specializes in creating a scalable battery-swapping network for urban mobility and energy storage.

Notable figures in the automotive industry, including G. Richard Wagoner, Jr., former CEO of General Motors, and Mark Joseph, former CEO of Veolia Transportation and Transdev N. America, support the company as advisors.

“Being a US-based company, I am very happy to witness Biliti Electric setting the groundwork for the next phase of its factory expansion in India,” said Mrs Jennifer Larson, Consul General of USA, Hyderabad. She noted the company’s new partnerships with US firms like GoBolt and FreshDirect, emphasizing the initiative’s significance in strengthening business ties between the United States and India.

Mr. Raja Gayam, CEO of Biliti Electric, expressed enthusiasm about the development, stating, “This groundbreaking ceremony marks a pivotal moment for Biliti Electric as we embark on a journey to reshape the future of last-mile mobility globally.”
