Ather Energy introduces the 2025 Ather 450

Ather Energy Limited, an EV two-wheeler manufacturer, announced the launch of the 2025 Ather 450 on 04 January 2025, with updated features. The 450X and 450 Apex scooters now include Multi-Mode Traction Control with three modes and MagicTwistTM to enhance functionality.

Ravneet S Phokela, Chief Business Officer, Ather Energy said, “The Ather 450 has been designed with performance at its core. Over the years we have been focusing on improving performance of the 450 product lineup even further through continuous improvements in both software and hardware. Now, with the 2025 Ather 450, we are improving the safety of the scooters with features like multi-mode traction control which is typically found in high end motorcycles. This feature allows the rider to adapt to different road conditions with better control and stability. We are also introducing MagicTwistTM on the 450X after introducing it on the 450 Apex and the Rizta. We expect that these latest updates will offer a much improved riding experience to scooter enthusiasts across the country”.

The Multi-Mode Traction Control system offers three settings: Rain Mode, Road Mode, and Rally Mode. These modes adjust the scooter’s handling based on road conditions to enhance control. The Rain Mode reduces slip for wet surfaces, Road Mode balances control for daily riding, and Rally Mode provides controlled slip for off-road use.

The updated Ather 450 range includes multi-compound tyres developed in collaboration with MRF and adjustments to energy management systems, which have resulted in an increase in range. The TrueRangeTM is up to 130 km for the 450X 3.7kWh (IDC Range 161 km) and 450 Apex (IDC Range 157 km). The 450X 2.9kWh (IDC Range 126 km) and 450S (IDC Range 122 km) now deliver a TrueRangeTM of up to 105 km.

MagicTwistTM is included in the 2025 lineup, enabling riders to manage deceleration through the throttle. It integrates acceleration and deceleration controls and functions similarly to regenerative braking, with the capability to operate at all charge levels.

The scooters run on AtherStackTM 6 software, integrating functionalities like Google Maps, Alexa, WhatsApp dashboard notifications, “Ping My Scooter” for location assistance, and live location sharing with preset contacts.

Ather Energy Limited, established in 2013 by IIT Madras alumni, introduced its first electric scooter, the Ather 450, in 2018, followed by the 450X in 2020. Ather’s product portfolio includes the 450 series (450X, 450S, and 450 Apex) and the Rizta family scooters (Rizta Z and Rizta S) launched in 2024, catering to family-oriented users. The 2025 models are covered under the Eight70 warranty, which provides coverage for up to eight years or 80,000 km, with a 70% battery health guarantee during this period.

The 450X 2.9kWh model is bundled with the Ather Duo charger, which reduces the charging time from 0 to 80% to three hours. The 450 Apex comes with the Ather Halo smart helmet.
