Energy In Motion Opens Heavy-Duty Battery Swapping-cum-Charging Station in Rewari, Haryana

Energy In Motion Ltd. (EIM) has inaugurated a heavy-duty battery swapping-cum-charging station in Rewari, Haryana, as part of its infrastructure network for electric freight vehicles along the NH-48 Delhi–Mumbai corridor.

The facility was inaugurated by Dr. Hanif Qureshi, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Heavy Industries, in the presence of representatives from Dalmia Cement, UltraTech Cement, Drivn and Energy In Motion, along with fleet operators, transporters, financiers and other industry participants.

The Rewari station joins EIM’s existing heavy-duty swapping-cum-charging facilities at Palwal and Kotputli along NH-48. According to the company, each station has a connected load of 2.5 MW.

The infrastructure is intended to support electric heavy commercial vehicles operating on freight routes. Under EIM’s battery-swapping model, a depleted vehicle battery can be exchanged for a charged battery instead of waiting for the vehicle to recharge at the station.

According to EIM Managing Director Narendra Murkumbi, the Rewari facility can complete a battery swap for an electric heavy commercial vehicle (e-HCV) in around seven minutes, compared with the 55–60 minutes the company estimates for conventional charging. The station has a stated capacity to serve more than 150 vehicles per day.

EIM said its 350 kWh battery-swapping system could increase monthly return trips by around 10%. The company plans to set up 40 swapping-cum-charging stations across India this financial year, with eight operational and seven under installation. EIM also offers its Maitryi Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model, which the company says can reduce the upfront cost of a heavy-duty electric truck by around 40%.
