Electric vehicle sales in India registered mixed category-wise trends in July 2026 compared with June. Electric two-wheeler (E2W) sales increased to 204,201 units from 194,951, while E3W L5 Passenger sales rose to 40,198 from 34,593. E-rickshaw sales also increased to 34,716 from 32,119, and E3W L5 Cargo/Goods registrations grew to 4,860 from 4,405. E-Goods Carrier sales climbed to 2,977 from 2,614, while the Others category increased to 171 from 56. On the other hand, E4W sales declined slightly to 32,609 from 33,334, E-bus sales fell to 548 from 732, and E-cart registrations remained largely stable, easing marginally to 7,277 from 7,303.

India recorded 29,63,600 EV sales from Aug 2025 to Jul 2026, per Vahan Dashboard data (excluding low-speed e-2Ws). Monthly sales peaked in July 2026 (3,27,557) and were lowest in September 2025 (1,91,521).

EV penetration in the two-wheeler (2W) category increased from 10.6% in June 2026 to 11.2% in July 2026.

Tata Motors is the clear leader, with over 41% of the market share, followed by Mahindra & Mahindra and JSW MG Motor India.

Tata Motors is the clear leader with over 43% market share in e-goods carrier sales in July 2026, followed by Euler Motors and Mahindra Last Mile Mobility.
