Billion Electric Mobility to deploy 150 electric trucks for JK Cement

Billion Electric Mobility has partnered with JK Cement Limited to deploy more than 150 heavy-duty electric trucks during the current financial year for cement transportation. The deployment is intended to support the gradual transition of JK Cement’s freight operations to electric mobility.

The partnership began with the deployment of 20 electric trucks with a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of 55 tonnes from JK Cement’s Muddapur plant in Karnataka. The trucks will transport cement to stockyards in Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Goa.

Under the partnership, Billion Electric Mobility will provide electric trucks, charging infrastructure, fleet operations, and route management through its E-Mobility-as-a-Service (eMaaS) platform. For this deployment, the trucks have been sourced from multiple OEMs, including Montra Electric and Ashok Leyland.

To support vehicle operations, the company will use ChargeZone’s charging network across freight corridors in Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Goa. Charging infrastructure is being expanded at locations including Nipani, Satara, Pune, Karad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Goa, Hubli, and Davanagere.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Pushparaj Singh, Group President – Marketing, J K Cement Limited, said, “To support the deployment, Billion Electric will leverage ChargeZone’s expanding high-speed charging network across key freight corridors in Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Goa. Charging infrastructure is being strengthened across strategic locations, including Nipani, Satara, Pune, Karad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Goa, Hubli, and Davanagere, enabling reliable operations for long- and mid-haul electric freight movement and creating the infrastructure backbone required for large-scale commercial EV adoption.”

Commenting on the partnership, Mr. Sanjeev Kulkarni, CEO at Billion Electric Mobility, said, “The decarbonisation of India’s freight sector will be driven by enterprises that are willing to lead from the front. J K Cement’s commitment demonstrates that heavy-duty electric mobility is no longer a future aspiration but a commercially viable reality. Through Billion Electric’s integrated eMaaS platform, supported by ChargeZone’s expanding high-speed charging network, we are enabling businesses to transition to electric freight with confidence while building the infrastructure backbone needed to scale zero-emission logistics across the country.”
