GreenCell Mobility to deploy 570 electric buses in Delhi
GreenCell Mobility (GCM), part of Eversource Capital’s portfolio, announced plans to deploy 570 electric buses in Delhi in the coming months. The deployment follows the completion of an USD 89 million investment round led by International Finance Corporation (IFC), British International Investment (BII), and Tata Capital.
The Delhi Government recently flagged off 500 electric buses at Ramlila Maidan in an event attended by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Shri Nitin Nabin, National President, BJP. Under the Delhi electric bus project, GreenCell Mobility will supply 12-metre air-conditioned electric city buses with higher battery capacity. The buses will operate from depots at Rajghat, Dilshad Garden, and Seemapuri.
The buses are equipped with an Integrated Transport Management System (ITMS), passenger information systems, real-time vehicle tracking, internal and rear-view cameras, and infrastructure designed for persons with disabilities.
Devndra Chawla, MD and CEO of GreenCell Mobility, stated that “Delhi’s electric bus rollout represents the next phase of India’s public transport transition from pilots to scaled, city-wide adoption. This deployment showcases how institutional capital, policy intent and operational capability can come together to deliver clean mobility at scale. Our focus is not just on adding electric buses but on building a reliable, technology-led public transport ecosystem that cities can depend on over the long term.”

In addition to Delhi, GreenCell Mobility is implementing electric bus projects in Uttar Pradesh (700 buses), Madhya Pradesh (582 buses), Andhra Pradesh (750 buses), Bihar (400 buses), Surat (150 buses), and Puducherry (75 buses). The company also operates 50 intercity electric buses for the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC).
The company operates more than 1,200 electric buses across intra-city and inter-city routes, supported by over 270 charging stations. With projects awarded under the National E-Bus Program and the PM Seva E-Mobility Program across Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, and the Union Territory of Puducherry, GreenCell Mobility plans to expand its fleet to more than 3,700 electric buses following the recent investment.
Under its intercity brand NueGo, the company operates over 300 electric coaches connecting more than 100 locations in India. The coaches are equipped with air conditioning, onboard amenities, speed limiters, CCTV cameras, driver breath analysers, driver monitoring systems, and a pre-departure inspection protocol. Each coach has a stated range of up to 250 km per charge under operating conditions with air conditioning in use.
GreenCell Mobility operates under an Electric Mobility-as-a-Service (eMaaS) model, partnering with government and transport authorities for electric bus deployment.
