Ola Electric expands 4680 Bharat Cell platform

Ola Electric announced the expansion of its 4680 Bharat Cell platform at Prarambh 2026, extending its application beyond electric mobility to include residential energy storage and other use cases. As part of this expansion, the company has opened sales of its 4680 Bharat Cells and 1.5 kWh 4680 Bharat Cell battery packs to businesses and startups for applications across automotive, drones, humanoids, and portable medical equipment.

The company also announced the availability of its residential Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), Ola Shakti, which is designed, engineered, and manufactured in India and powered by the 4680 Bharat Cells. Ola Shakti is available in two configurations—3 kW/5.2 kWh and 6 kW/9.1 kWh. Deliveries for the 6 kW/9.1 kWh variant are scheduled to begin at the end of January 2026, while deliveries for the 3 kW/5.2 kWh variant are expected to start in mid-February 2026.

In addition, Ola Electric has begun deliveries of its Roadster X+ motorcycle with a 9.1 kWh battery powered by the 4680 Bharat Cell, offering a claimed range of up to 500 km on a single charge. The company has also scaled up pan-India deliveries of the S1 Pro+ with a 5.2 kWh battery using the same cell platform.

According to the company, the 4680 Bharat Cell platform now supports its two-wheeler portfolio as well as its residential energy storage products, serving as a common energy solution across mobility and stationary storage applications.

Ola Electric stated that opening the 4680 Bharat Cell platform to external businesses and startups is intended to support product development and scaling across sectors including electric vehicles, robotics, drones, and medical devices. Businesses can purchase individual cells or use the 1.5 kWh battery pack for product integration.

Ola Shakti is priced at ₹1,49,999 for the 3 kW/5.2 kWh configuration and ₹2,49,999 for the 6 kW/9.1 kWh configuration. The company stated that the system can support household appliances (such as air conditioners, refrigerators, induction cookers), agricultural equipment (farm pumps), and communication devices, with a backup duration of up to 1.5 hours at full load. The product is available through the Ola Electric website and retail stores.

The Roadster X+ 9.1 kWh is priced at ₹1,89,999 and features an 11 kW motor, a claimed top speed of 125 kmph, and acceleration from 0–40 kmph in 2.7 seconds. The S1 Pro+ 5.2 kWh is priced at ₹1,90,338 and features a 13 kW motor, a claimed IDC range of up to 320 km, a top speed of 130 kmph, and acceleration from 0–40 kmph in 2.1 seconds.

Ola Electric operates manufacturing facilities in Tamil Nadu and a Battery Innovation Centre in Bengaluru, with R&D activities in India, the UK, and the US, and sells its products through a direct-to-customer retail and online network across India.
