RIICO allots land for PMI Electro Mobility’s ₹1,200 crore electric bus plant in Rajasthan

PMI Electro Mobility Solutions Pvt. Ltd. will set up an electric bus manufacturing facility in Rajasthan with an investment of about ₹1,200 crore. The Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation (RIICO) has issued an offer letter dated October 14, 2025, for the allotment of 2,65,329 square meters (65.56 acres) of land in the Ghiloth Industrial Area, valued at approximately ₹208 crore.

PMI had proposed setting up the unit in Rajasthan and subsequently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the state government during the Rising Rajasthan Summit. Following this, RIICO facilitated the land allocation through an e-auction process, in which the company secured a 65-acre plot for the project.

The upcoming facility will produce electric buses, bus bodies, batteries, motors, and wire harnesses, and will include a spare parts division. The proposed Ghiloth unit will have an annual capacity of 33,000 vehicles, including 15,000 electric buses, 6,000 medium commercial vehicles (MCVs), and 12,000 light commercial vehicles (LCVs).

According to the company, the project is expected to create direct employment for over 500 people. The company manufactures electric commercial vehicles and currently operates more than 2,000 electric buses across 31 Indian cities. It has also signed a contract worth around ₹400 crore with BEST Mumbai.

PMI plans to utilize 40% of its capacity in the first year, increasing gradually to 100% by the sixth year. The company’s projected turnover is estimated at ₹6,180 crore in the first year and ₹15,450 crore by the sixth year.

Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma said that projects worth ₹7 lakh crore have been implemented out of the ₹35 lakh crore MoUs signed under the Rising Rajasthan initiative. He stated that the PMI unit will be the first electric bus manufacturing facility in the state and is likely to attract further investments in the electric vehicle sector. The establishment of the plant is also expected to support industrial activity and contribute to emissions reduction in Rajasthan.
