Yamaha launches EC-06 electric scooter in India at ₹1,67,600
India Yamaha Motor (IYM) Pvt. Ltd. announced the launch of its first electric scooter, the EC-06, priced at ₹1,67,600 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The scooter will be available initially in select cities through Yamaha’s Blue Square showrooms.
The EC-06 is positioned as a commuting solution with a claimed range of 169 km. The scooter is powered by a 4 kWh fixed IPMSM (Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) battery, with a top speed of 79 km/h, maximum torque of 26 Nm, and peak power of 6.7 kW. Charging can be done via a standard home plug, with a full charge taking around eight hours. The battery comes with a three-year or 30,000 km warranty. The motor and battery are IP67 certified, and other electronics are IP65 certified.
The EC-06 provides three riding modes—Eco, Standard, and Power—and a Reverse Mode for low-speed manoeuvring. Suspension features include a telescopic front with hydraulic dampers and a rear coil spring. Braking is managed through 200mm front and rear disc brakes with a Combi Brake System (CBS).
The scooter has a colour LCD display showing speed, battery status, riding modes, and connectivity options. LED headlights and taillights are included. The Yamaha Motor Connect R app allows riders to access real-time data. Under-seat storage capacity is 24.5 litres.
Commenting on the launch, Mr. Hajime Aota, Chairman, Yamaha Motor India Group, said “The EC-06 marks an important step in Yamaha’s journey toward sustainable urban mobility. As India accelerates its transition toward a carbon-neutral future under the government’s visionary leadership, Yamaha is proud to support this national agenda through high-quality electric innovation. Designed for everyday commuting, it balances efficiency with performance, offering an impressive range and intuitive features. As a first-of-its-kind model from Yamaha, it demonstrates how sustainability and riding excitement can coexist—true to our brand philosophy and our responsibility towards the future of India’s green economy.”
Yamaha noted that the launch aligns with government initiatives including the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme and charging infrastructure expansion. The development of the EC-06 has been carried out in India, supporting the ‘Make in India’ initiative.
