Valeo expands ultrasonic sensor production in India | Inaugurates second line in Sanand

On July 26, 2023, Valeo, a global automotive technology provider, inaugurated a second manufacturing line for Ultrasonic Sensors in Sanand, Gujarat, India. The President of Comfort and Driving Assistance Business Group, Marc Vrecko, and the Group President & Managing Director of Valeo India, Jayakumar G, were present at this assembly line inauguration event.

Since November 2021, production has been underway at Valeo’s Sanand location in Ahmedabad. The addition of this new line will boost the annual production capacity from three million to seven million units, said an official statement.

This modern plant is equipped with the following:

  • A semi-automatic lean manufacturing line in a dust-free production environment.
  • Advanced manufacturing capabilities include a traceability system based on QR Code laser marking for all products.
  • The facility houses a separate “Reinforce Product Audit” Laboratory with X-ray, thermal testing, and electrical function testing.
  • These measures are implemented to ensure the reliability and high quality of the product.

Valeo offers:

  • AIS (Automotive Industry Standards) regulation-compliant Park Assist technology for passenger and commercial vehicles.
  • The Park Assist system features a scalable architecture with solutions ranging from basic entry to advanced automated park assist functions, catering to various OEMs’ needs.
  • The system’s capabilities can be further extended to include automated parking in both parallel and perpendicular spaces.
  • It also supports automated braking, basic blind spot detection, as well as passive and active flank protection.

Commenting on the new facility, Jayakumar G, Group President & Managing Director, Valeo India, said, “We installed this new sensor line for rear park assist to increase capacity and meet our customer’s growing demand for ultrasonic sensors in India. This is another milestone towards providing safer mobility solutions to our customers. We plan to increase our investments to localize more products, and provide best solutions in driving assistance systems for India and export markets.”
