Toyota launches Urban Cruiser Ebella electric SUV in India

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has announced the launch of the all-electric Urban Cruiser Ebella, marking its entry into India’s battery electric vehicle (BEV) segment. The model is based on the Urban SUV Concept and aligns with Toyota’s multi-pathway electrification strategy.

The Urban Cruiser Ebella is offered with two battery options of 49 kWh and 61 kWh. The 61 kWh variant delivers 128 kW of power and 189 Nm of torque, with a claimed driving range of up to 543 km on a single charge, as per ARAI certification. The vehicle is built on a dedicated BEV platform and features front-wheel drive.

The model will be available in five monotone and four dual-tone colour options. Bookings open on January 20, 2026, while prices will be announced at a later date.

Exterior features include Toyota’s hammerhead front design, LED lighting, dual-tone paint options and 18-inch alloy wheels. The interior includes dual-tone upholstery, sliding and reclining rear seats, a panoramic roof, ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, and a JBL audio system.

The vehicle is equipped with a digital instrument cluster (10.25-inch) and a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Connected features are provided through Toyota’s i-Connect platform, including remote charging, battery status monitoring and climate control. The Urban Cruiser Ebella supports AC and DC fast charging and is compatible with CCS2 charging standards. Charging functions such as scheduling and remote operation are accessible via connected technology.

Safety features include seven airbags, Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), a 360-degree camera, ABS, EBD, vehicle stability control, and a high-tensile body structure.

Toyota is offering an 8-year battery warranty, along with Battery-as-a-Service and assured buyback programmes. The company stated that more than 500 service touchpoints across India are equipped to support BEV servicing.
