Replus plans to expand battery manufacturing to 6GWh

Replus, a battery manufacturing company under the LNJ Bhilwara Group, has announced plans to expand its current 1GWh production facility to 6GWh within the next year. The expansion will integrate advanced battery technologies to meet the increasing demand in India’s Electric Vehicle (EV) and Energy Storage System (ESS) sectors.

The upgraded 6GWh facility will include:

• Automated Manufacturing Processes: Integration of automation, AI, real-time monitoring, machine vision, robotic systems, automated material handling, and laser welding to improve production efficiency and reduce environmental impact.

• Advanced Cell Chemistry: The plant will accommodate multiple cell chemistries, including Na-ion, LMFP, and LTO, to address varying market requirements.

• New Product Offerings: The plant will manufacture battery solutions for electric vehicles such as passenger vehicles, buses, and trucks, as well as grid-scale renewable energy storage systems, including liquid-cooled BESS container solutions.

Replus’ expansion aligns with the Indian government’s ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative by boosting local manufacturing. Established in 2019 and approved by DPIIT, the company reports 70MWh of completed BESS projects and an order pipeline of 600MWh BESS and 300MWh EV battery packs. A subsidiary of Bhilwara Energy Limited, Replus operates a 1GWh automated Cell-to-Pack facility in Pune and plans further expansion in India and globally.
