Quarterly India EV Sales Trend for Q4 FY2024-25

Electric Vehicles category-wise sales trend

India’s total automotive sales in Q4 FY2024-25 were 65,87,766, of which 5,33,254 were EVs, which accounts for 8.09% EV penetration in the quarter.

  • The total number of electric vehicles sold in India from Q1 FY 24-25 to Q4 FY 24-25 (the last four quarters) is 20,33,703 units. The number of EVs sold in Q4 FY24-25 was 5,33,254.
  • Electric vehicle sales are dominated by 2Ws and 3Ws, with a combined volume share of almost 92.53% among all vehicle segments in Q4 FY 24-25.
  • For e-2Ws, sales decreased by 8.3% in Q4 FY 24-25 over the last quarter, while YoY sales also decreased by 0.19% (616 units).
  • E-2W, e-rickshaw, and e-3W Pax L5 categories registered a QoQ decline of 8.3%, 14.31%, and 5.68%, respectively. The rest of the categories witnessed a QoQ growth, including a notable 28.03% growth in the e-Goods Carrier category.
  • Among all other segments, e-cart sales witnessed the highest YoY growth, 48.17%. Looking at more YoY changes, e-3W Pax L5 and e-4W witnessed growth of 48.1% and 37.7% in Q4 FY 24-25 compared to Q4 FY 23-24.

Note – 3W E-rickshaw and E-carts are not considered for the calculation of segment-wise EV penetration.

L5M – passenger 3W L5 vehicles | L5N – Cargo 3W L5 vehicles

  • In Q4 2024-25, the penetration of electric vehicles in the 3W passenger category reached an impressive 26.32%, up from 25.87% in Q3 2024-25.
  • EV penetration in the 3W cargo category stands at 21.98% in Q4, up from 20.81% in Q3 2024-25.
  • EV Penetration for 2Ws increased, accounting for 7.03% of total 2W sales in India in Q4 2024-25.
  • EV penetration in the 4W segment increased slightly by 0.39%, making up 3.17% of total 4W sales in India in Q4 2024-25. EV penetration in the Bus sales declined to 5.01% in Q4 FY 24-25 from 5.17% in Q3.
