MOVIN introduces electric cargo 4Ws for last-mile deliveries in Delhi NCR

An express logistics start-Up, MOVIN formed as a JV between UPS and InterGlobe Enterprises in May 2022, has announced the inclusion of Electric Vehicles (EVs) in its fleet for first and last-mile deliveries. The deployment of EVs will commence in Delhi-NCR and expand to cover Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Kolkata, and Pune by the end of 2023.

The EVs (Electric TATA ACE) have a payload capacity of up to 850 kg and can cover a distance of 120 kilometres on a single charge, said a company statement.

The EVs were officially launched by JB Singh, Director of MOVIN Express, and Gregory Goba-Ble, Vice President for UPS in the Indian subcontinent, Middle East, and Africa, and Director for MOVIN Express. MOVIN, with the backing of the State Government to foster sustainable logistics solutions and in response to the growing acceptance of electric vehicles, intends to amplify its fleet capacity in strategic markets, aligning with the advancements in charging infrastructure to integrate EVs into its operations.

JB Singh, Director of MOVIN Express, was excited about the introduction of commercial EVs in the five metros by December 2023. Singh emphasized MOVIN’s transition from internal combustion engines to electric fleets and its environmental impact. He also highlighted the company’s commitment to sustainability and customer needs.

Gregory Goba-Ble, Vice President for UPS in the Indian subcontinent, Middle East, and Africa, and Director for MOVIN Express, described the inclusion of EVs as an important step in MOVIN’s journey to decarbonize its operations. UPS, as a global company, is devoted to reducing emissions and achieving 100% carbon neutrality by 2050. Goba-Ble highlighted that climate-conscious solutions benefit businesses, customers, and the world.

MOVIN serves customers across various sectors, including IT, electronics, apparel, healthcare, e-commerce, pharma, and FMCG. Within a year, the company has expanded its Express End-of-Day network from three markets (Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru) to 49 cities across India since its launch. By deploying EVs, MOVIN aims to mitigate 200 tons of CO2 emissions within the next year.
